Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing to book a Reiki session often comes with curiosity, and sometimes a few questions. That’s natural. This page aims to give you clear, reassuring answers so you know what to expect and can feel fully comfortable before your session.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle energy healing practice that works by channelling universal life force energy to support the body’s natural ability to restore balance and wellbeing. It is safe, non-invasive, and can be experienced both in-person and at a distance.

Energy is not limited by physical space. Just as you can feel emotion in a voice over the phone, Reiki can be received without needing to be face-to-face. Many clients report the same sense of calm, warmth, and release from distance sessions as they do from in-person ones.

Experiences vary. Some people feel deep relaxation, warmth, or tingling. Others notice emotions releasing or simply feel lighter and calmer afterwards. There is no “right” way. Reiki works gently in the way you need it most at the time.

It helps to set aside a quiet space where you can be comfortable and undisturbed. You may want to sit or lie down, silence your phone, and have some water nearby. Coming into the session with a simple intention, such as relaxation, clarity, or release, can also be helpful.

Most people feel calmer and more balanced straight away. You may notice improved sleep, a clearer mind, or physical ease. Occasionally, emotions or fatigue can surface as part of your system releasing tension. These effects are temporary and often part of the healing process.

No. Reiki is a complementary therapy that supports emotional, energetic, and physical wellbeing. It should not be used as a replacement for professional medical or psychological care. Always consult your healthcare provider regarding any health concerns.

An individual Distance Reiki Healing session lasts around 30 minutes. In-person sessions are 1 hour. Corporate sessions are usually around 30 minutes and are tailored to the workplace setting.

Some people feel a shift after one session, while others benefit from a series of treatments to support deeper or ongoing needs. Peter will work with you to recommend what may best suit your situation.

Most people can benefit from Reiki, but Peter does not offer sessions if you’re currently experiencing a high fever, undergoing a general anaesthetic, or about to drive or operate machinery straight after.

This is for your safety and to honour the nature of the work.

Yes. For in-person sessions, you’re welcome to bring a friend or family member if it helps you feel more comfortable. For distance sessions, you may simply want to let someone in your household know you’re having the session so you’re undisturbed.
